Number of countries evaluating their health inequalities programmes

18 countries indicated that their programs and activities associated with health inequality are at some level evaluated. The methodology and tools mentioned for the evaluation vary a great deal, ranging from the use of the ‘relative inequality index’ national statistic reports to monitor progress or quantitative, qualitative and action research.

The reformulation of health inequalities policies on the basis of evaluation reports is not systematically undertaken. Only 8 countries indicated that evaluation results are being used to inform future actions or change of policy orientation.
