Despite the country’s relatively small size, some regions are preparing and implementing health strategies with a focus on health inequalities specific to their situation (please see Documents section for examples).
Health care, as well as public health and health promotion, are integral parts of the welfare provision. As such they are considered to be a collective responsibility, which in turn promotes inter-departmental cooperation. The Public Health Programme is a result of the cooperation between 11 of the ministries.
